Action planning tools

Action planning is essential to help you plan how to implement the areas for improvement identified during C3Perform self-assessment sessions.

To develop an effective Action Plan you will need to prioritise and organise all the actions for improvement identified during the self-assessment process. Four action planning tools are described below, offering different features and approaches.

The Action Plan models offer you 2 templates for developing an action plan, followed by 2 methods for prioritising actions for improvement ie. Coloured Dot Voting and Gantt Charting. Select the mix of tools that matches your needs and resources.

Action Plan Template 1

This is a simple template for creating a user friendly and practical plan. It lists prioritised tasks or Actions and identifies the Resources needed to implement them, linked to Timing for completion and who is Responsible for achieving results.

Action Plan Template 2

This Action Plan template is designed to allow you to map out a more detailed timeline for the actions. It follows the format of a simple Gantt chart that plots Actions on a Timeline. The chart can be colour coded to denote responsibility.

Prioritisation by dot voting.

You may well need to prioritise actions for inclusion into a performance improvement plan. This is a very effective and quick method for reducing long, unmanageable lists of actions into short, achievable ones.

Participative Gantt Charting

Participative Gantt charting is a process designed to involve a group of between 3 to 8 people in developing a performance improvement Action Plan which identifies a clear timescale for actions and responsibility for who will do what.
